Same-day crown or traditional crown?
Both approaches are intended to restore a damaged or weakened tooth. The best process depends on the tooth, bite, material needs, and the dentist’s clinical assessment.
The same-day process
CEREC combines digital scanning, design, and in-office fabrication. In suitable cases, a crown can be prepared, produced, checked, and placed during one appointment without a temporary crown.
The traditional process
Some situations are better served by a restoration produced outside the office. This generally involves a temporary restoration followed by a separate placement visit.
How the choice is made
Your dentist considers the amount of healthy tooth remaining, location, bite forces, appearance, and material requirements. Same-day treatment is convenient, but it is not automatically the right answer for every tooth.
